PCBN GRADE (ORDER GRADE)

1. HARD TURNING

When machining hardened steel with a PCBN insert, it's crucial to check for interruptions in the process. The most suitable PCBN grade for your machining depends on your workpiece design. Refer to the picture below to see how different grades become more appropriate as the tool path transitions to a tougher configuration.

Characteristics

EB428 has excellent high temperature wear resistance and is suitable for continuous processing of heat-treated steel and high-speed processing of spherical graphite cast iron. This grade has an excellent heat resistance with  multi-layer coating

Wear resistance 

EB419 is commonly used for continuous to intermediate heat treatment steel machining and has excellent wear resistance. This grade is characterized by excellent heat resistance, enhanced by a multi-layer coating.

2. POWDER METAL MACHINING

Powder metal can be categorized into high-alloyed and low-alloyed metals, each possessing distinct properties and hardness levels. The EHWA PCBN grade, renowned for its exceptional wear and impact resistance, contributes to enhanced tool life and improved surface roughness.

Characteristics

EB710 is a high-content grade with fine grain that shows excellent wear resistance and impact resistance. It is well-suited for both continuous and light-interrupted machining of sintered alloys.

3. CAST IRON MACHINING

Machining Cast Iron: PCBN excels in processing grey cast iron, ductile cast iron, and high-hardness cast iron. Compared to other conventional tools on the market, EHWA's PCBN line allows for high-speed performance with excellent surface quality and tool life.
